Music Video In Spotlight: Coldplay's Viva La Vida

I'm obsessed about the single Viva La Vida by Coldplay. It's practically a personal theme song for me. It's aristocratic throw back pop at its finest. Did I just say that? So there were 2 versions of the music video. You have one done by the guy who does almost every famous rap video out there, Hype Williams. It's similar to another one of his videos which uses a lot of different backgrounds (see the extra bonus at the very bottom). The other more subtle video of Chris roaming around in the Netherlands as a king is done by the prolific director, Anton Corbijn. Wait, did you see this somewhere before? Think the 80's. Think Depeche Mode. How can Anton repeat the same premise in another video? Anyways, the results are much better than Hype's hype for a video.

Where would we be without a pair of mp3s relating to Viva La Vida. Lady GaGa has her weird cabaret cover of it. The Disco Tech guys did a dancey remix of it.

PS - I remember reading NME a couple years ago at a Borders. This particular picture of Chris Martin & Thom Yorke at NME awards stood out the most.

It seems when two front men of two different respectable and popular bands collide at one place, one is definitely not "having a laugh."

Vintage Corner: Laura Branigan's Self Control

Rad LEGO Ferrari Testarossa a la Miami Vice

Here's another personal favorite of mine from the 80's
. The song is by Laura Branigan. She's known also her Italo pop/disco tinged single, Gloria. Self Conrol is the perfect soundtrack for city nightlife in the 80's. I swear that it could have been used as the opening theme for an old anime like City Hunter. I was 3 or 4 years old when I saw the music video for Self Control. Trust me, it was one of the creepiest things that I've ever seen. You can't forget the the masked creeper who was stalking Branigan throughout it. For all you young ones, the JabbawockeeZ will come to mind but the creepy f*** doesn't do the robot or breakdances.

I recently found out that she passed away in 2004. Her music will always be remembered. R.I.P. Laura.

A Video Game Where You Shoot People Point Blank In The Face, 2 Copies For Me Then

Forget GTAIV, Gears Of War, Fiddy's Blood On The Sand & whatever. This will be the game of the year. No other FPS or 3rd person shooting game can top this. The sequel looks as promising too. See the video below.

Did you hear that? You can read the full article here. It seems like Bristol Palin wants to be poster child of abstinence. The Palin family never cease to amaze me.

A) Educational Sexism

False Dilemma Propagnada
C) Anti Axis Propaganda That Looks Like Pro Axis Propaganda

We Are Your Friends @ Cinespace, A Birthday Night Of Bangalter & Ed Bangers Vs. Bouncers

You probably heard from here & there that Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk did a surprise 3 song set @ Cinespace in LA for Busy P's birthday party. The lineup included Kavinsky, So Me, SebastiAn, A-Trak having a set which lead into a mini tag with DJ Mehdi & of course the, birthday boy. Gaspard of Justice was spotted in the sea of people behind the DJ booth. It was interesting for Mr. Bangalter to DJ out of nowhere but this piece of news took the cake. It explains the photo above.
